About Me
My name is Debbie King, I live in Seattle, Washington and I love designing web sites, assets, and mobile apps that are visually aesthetic, clearly reflect identity and brand, and most importantly, create a positive interactive user experience. I am a strong believer in “less is more” when it comes to designing…therefore, my sites tend to have a clean, minimalist feel.
I have a passion for taking basic ideas and creative concepts, and turning them into visually polished, user-focused designs that are based on UI/UX principles.
Skills
I am well-versed in Photoshop, Illustrator, XHTML/HTML5, CSS3, Dreamweaver, and W3C standards and best practices. I have plenty of experience with front-end development but at this point, prefer to focus on user-centered design and leave the development to others. I design all my sites according to usability and accessibility principles, and am a big fan of Steve Krug's book "Don't Make Me Think."
I have over 15 years experience writing and publishing technical, scientific, and marketing material, and creating and organizing clear, concise web content. I also enjoy creating digital graphics. I am continually learning new skills, through either formal classes or self-teaching, in order to keep up with the lightning-paced speed of internet technology and trends.
Interests
My love of all things creative extends beyond web design to include designing handmade cards, scrapbooking, and most of all, swing and lindy hop dancing. I also enjoy relaxing with a good book and a cup of green tea, or being out and about enjoying all that the beautiful Pacific Northwest has to offer.
