The Man Himself once said “I am in fact a hobbit in all but size. I like gardens, trees, unmechanized farm lands; I smoke a pipe and like good, plain food--unrefridgerated--but I detest French cooking. I like--and even dare to wear in these dull days--ornamental waistcoasts. I'm fond of mushrooms out of a field, have a very simple sense of humor (which even my most appreciative critics find tiresome). I go to bed late, and get up late, when possible.”
The Northwest Tolkien Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring the life of J.R.R. Tolkien and the worlds he created. Our mission is three-fold:
- to organize and participate in activities that further the understanding of Tolkien's writings and languages;
- to support charitable events throughout the year;
- and to host social occasions for Tolkien fans.
