Karuna Massage and Healing Arts

Karuna Massage wanted a site that clearly reflects the mood of calm and peace that patients experiences at their clinic, as well as one that provides detailed information about the services they offer. The site has received very positive feedback regarding its design and usability, and has helped increase the clinic's business by 30 percent.
I used layers of color in the header based on the natural shades of bamboo, a plant often associated with alternative medicine. Warm earth tones create a peaceful look and feel for patients to learn more about this massage clinic's services and emphasizes the connection between ourselves, the earth, and healing. A soft, suede background completes the look of a comforting and natural healing environment. (The header photo and site colors were changed significantly from the original mockup to achieve the warm earth tones effect.)
I designed the navigation so that users can easily access top level links about the clinic, with sidebars that contain second and third-level links to more in depth information about the services Karuna Massage offers. Each Services page has an external link to additional information.
Patients can purchase and download coupons and gift certificates through PayPal by accessing bright-colored image links displayed prominently on home page.
Eventually, I widened the site using the 960 grid system.
